Helai is a multilingual Community Health Navigator and culturally responsive professional with extensive experience in healthcare navigation, professional interpretation, cultural liaison services, and community engagement. Fluent in four different languages, she brings a strong combination of linguistic expertise, cultural competency, and interpersonal skills to her work with diverse individuals, families, and communities.

In her current role as a Community Health Navigator, Helai supports individuals and families in navigating complex healthcare systems and accessing appropriate care and services. She helps patients understand healthcare resources, connect with essential community and social services, and overcome barriers that may prevent them from receiving timely and appropriate care. Through her work, she promotes health equity, culturally responsive care, and patient empowerment, ensuring that individuals feel informed, respected, and supported throughout their healthcare journey.

Prior to her current role, Helai worked as an Independent Interpreter and Cultural Liaison, providing accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation services across healthcare, immigration, education, and community settings. Her work required a strong understanding of language, culture, confidentiality, and the unique needs of individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

As a Cultural Liaison, Helai’s responsibilities extended beyond language interpretation. She provided cultural guidance to organizations and staff, supported community outreach and engagement initiatives, and helped service providers strengthen their ability to effectively and respectfully serve culturally diverse populations. She also recruited, trained, scheduled, and supervised professional interpreters, providing leadership and ongoing support to promote high-quality and professional language services.

Throughout her career, Helai has supported individuals and families through complex systems and processes, facilitated communication between community members and service providers.

Her commitment to cultural responsiveness, health equity, and community empowerment continues to guide her work and her dedication to serving diverse communities.In her current role, Helai continues to build on this experience by serving as a bridge between individuals, healthcare providers, and community resources. She is committed to identifying and addressing barriers to care, strengthening connections between communities and available services, and advocating for individuals whose cultural, linguistic, or social circumstances may affect their ability to access healthcare. Her work reflects a deep commitment to health equity, culturally responsive care, and creating more accessible and inclusive healthcare experiences for the communities she serves.
