Melanie began her nursing education at the University of Georgia and continued her training at the Medical College of Georgia before earning a degree as a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Emory University. She later completed post-master's training in Family Medicine at UMass Boston.
Her clinical training laid the foundation for her passion for global health, which has taken her around the world through medical volunteer work, particularly in Palestine. She later moved to Jordan, where she worked with Palestinian, Syrian, and Sudanese communities, as well as Bedouin communities in remote desert regions. These experiences deepened her commitment to supporting communities affected by conflict, migration, and refugee crises and inspired her to found Hope & Unity Global, an organization focused on advancing health, dignity, and opportunity for underserved communities. Through Hope & Unity Global, she has worked to connect communities with compassionate, culturally responsive support while building partnerships that address both immediate needs and longer-term well-being.
Melanie recently returned to Atlanta and is pursuing a Master of Public Health at Emory's Rollins School of Public Health, where she is building on her clinical and global-health experience to advance more equitable, community-centered approaches to care. Outside of work and school, she enjoys improving her Arabic, exploring cultures through food, discovering great coffee, and cheering on the UGA Bulldogs.
